Abstract
The velocity of insecticidal action of DDT in 28 types of soil from New Jersey was not affected by the origin of the soil but was retarded in poorly drained inadequately aerated soils. The velocity was faster in the sands than in gravelly loams, shale loams, sandy loams and silt loams. When DDT was applied at the rate of 25 lbs./acre, no significant change in the effectiveness was noted in field plots in 5 years but in the laboratory there was a marked decrease in the velocity of insecticidal action in some of the soils during the 5th year. Keywords
