Abstract
Antacids commonly used to treat peptic ulcer are compared for their ability to neutralise acid and inactivate pepsin. On this basis a new bismuth salt, bismuth aluminate is compared with ten other commonly employed substances and found to be the most effective agent. All preparations are grouped according to their antacid and antipeptic properties. Keywords
