Abstract
In 23 thermally injured patients an initial decrease of IgG, IgM, IgA, total serum protein and serum albumin was found, followed by an increased production of all immunoglobulins, including IgE. The alteration in the immunoglobulin pattern was most marked in the severely injured patients. An anamnestic response after a booster injection with tetanus toxoid was observed. There was no rise in the titre of naturally occurring antibodies. No evidence was obtained for impairment of the humoral immune response following thermal trauma. Keywords
