Abstract
The general thermodynamical theory formulated recently by Green and Naghdi is extended to mixtures of an arbitrary number of continua, and constitutive equations are considered for a mixture of Newtonian fluids and a single nonlinear elastic solid. The problem of steady-state diffusion of a binary mixture of ideal gases through a rigid solid is then examined. Keywords
