Abstract
We discuss the “spectroscopy” of gluonic states in systems with two space dimensions, using simple models to mimic the results of lattice gauge theory computations. We first discuss the quantum numbers of these systems, including charge conjugation. Two types of systems are discussed in detail: “gluelumps” which have a heavy adjoint color charge at the origin and glueballs which are composed entirely of glue. Both systems are discussed using the bag model and the flux-tube model. For glueballs the model spectra are compared with the results of Teper. Both models capture many features of the numerical results. Keywords
