Abstract
Data is presented showing the clear marginal effect present in circular patches of invading Eriophorum. The density and performance of Eriophorum is greater at the margin than in the hinterland and there is a clear-cut inverse relationship between the performance of Eriophorum and the density of Salix herbacea, one of the associated species. It is concluded that competition ability of an individual is directly proportional to its performance, which in turn is related to its age. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
