Abstract
The study examines retrospectively selected environmental variables and the frequency of aggressive and socially disruptive behaviors within a 42-bed maximum security psychiatric setting. Perceived “violent” patients showed a low incidence of aggressive behavior in a controlled setting. Significant variables associated with these behaviors were the time of day and availability of professional staff. Keywords
