Abstract
Item validity of the nine-item Lie Scale of Eysenck Personality Inventory, Form A, from responses of 640 undergraduates was assessed. The corrected point-biserial correlations indicated that only two items were significantly valid across race and sex. The remaining seven items were valid for either race only or specific race-sex combinations. These results supported the hypothesis that social desirability in personality assessment may vary from one ethnic group to another and from one race-sex combination to another as well. Keywords
