Abstract
A general method for the study of the lattice dynamics of a partially disordered crystal is worked out on a model Hamiltonian. It describes a crystal of diatomic molecules the rotational motions of which are strongly coupled to the lattice vibrations. Expressions are derived for the inverse of the static displacement-displacement susceptibility matrix, the elastic constants, and the atomic-density probability distribution of each molecule. Keywords
