Abstract
The podiatric physician should be alert to the possibility of underlying bony infections in cases of chronic or neglected nail infections. X-rays should be taken when drainage has been present for 4 weeks. This will rule out bony changes as well as provide assistance in following the progression, if no improvement is seen, despite treatment. Keywords
