Abstract
A novel technique is described whereby root morphogenesis and mineral nutrient capture may be examined in a standardized, nutritionally-heterogeneous rooting environment. The method obviates the need for partitions and has been used in pot experiments to detect species differences in morphogenetic response to localized nutrient depletion. Application of the technique to screening of root toxins and root protective compounds is possible
