Abstract
Carbohydrate metabolism in man can be affected by a number of factors including diet, diabetes or exercise. This review discusses the following aspects of carbohydrate metabolism: glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis in the liver under the effect of various diets; ketone body oxidation in the CNS: changes in enzyme activity in the liver due to variation in diet; liver glycogen in diabetes; carbohydrate metabolism in the liver and muscle at rest and during exercise. Keywords
