Abstract
Published experimental work on the lateral distribution function of atmospheric Cerenkov light from cosmic-ray showers has been used to relate the shape of this function to the distance of shower maximum from the observer. This relationship has then been used with the authors' own experimental data to investigate the relationship between shower size and depth of shower maximum development for showers in the size range approximately 2*105 to 3*106 particles. Keywords
