Abstract
The ã excited state of HgAr, which correlates asymptotically with Hg (3P0)+Ar(1S0), was examined for the first time under supersonic jet conditions. Laser double resonance experiments on the ã–c̃, ã–D̃, and ÖC̃ transitions of the complex have revealed the potential energy curve of this hitherto unknown state. The state was found to have a double minimum potential; D0=97 and ∼16 cm−1.Keywords
