In search of an effective antiemetic

Abstract
The effective control of nausea and vomiting induced by cancer chemotherapy is of primary concern to nurses caring for cancer patients. The authors have completed a prospective randomized study comparing delta-9-tetrahydrocan-nabinol (THC) to placebo for the control of nausea and vomiting in a population of osteogenic sarcoma patients receiving high-dose methotrexate. This is a narrative study that surveys the attitudes of the participating nurse co-investigators as they struggled with some of the issues of participating in this research project. The double-blind experimental model used to objectively compare marijuana to an inert placebo is also examined.
