An Orbital Metastasis From the Urinary Bladder

Abstract
This paper reports a patient with a carcinoma of the urinary bladder and a solitary metastasis to the orbit. A review of the literature failed to disclose any previous description of this entity. Report of Case A 75-year-old white male presented with a threemonth history of diplopia associated with slowly progressive proptosis and visual loss in his left eye. The history further disclosed two recent episodes of painless hematuria. Ocular examination revealed a best corrected vision of 20/40 in the right eye and counting fingers at 1 foot in the left eye. Aside from moderate nuclear sclerosis, further examination of the right eye was unremarkable. The left eye was obviously displaced forward and inferiorly (Fig 1). Exophthalmometer readings were 15 OD and 25 OS. The eye could not be elevated or replaced posteriorly into the orbit.
