Abstract
Parthenium has been recognised as a serious weed in Queensland only since 1974, but subsequently it has spread explosively mainly along roads in rangeland country. The weed has become the subject of an intensive research and control programme and large sums of Government money are being made available for its containment. The distribution and biology of this weed in Australia are described, and possible control measures discussed.
