Abstract
With use of contact interaction between carriers and Hartree-Fock approximation, a gas-liquid type first order phase transition of semimetals in a strong magnetic field is studied for an arbitrary configuration of electron and hole Landau levels with arbitrary effective masses. The results are in qualitative agreement with the recent experiment on Bi.Keywords
