Abstract
A case of unilateral endophthalmitis caused by Mycobacterium avium is presented. This appears to be the first reported ocular involvement associated with this organism. Despite heroic topical, local, and systemic therapy, there was progressive ocular and systemic deterioration. Ocular histopathologic findings revealed a typical posterior granulomatous uveitis with an exudative retinal detachment, and the presence of acid-fast bacilli. Keywords
