Abstract
A simultaneous measurement of the 230Th(d, pf) fission probability and the associated fission fragment angular distribution reveals the presence of new resonant states of the fissioning 231Th nucleus at excitation energies around 5.9 MeV. These states are interpretated as high spin members of a pair of rotational bands, thus confirming the previous evidence of a third minimum in the fission barrier of 231Th at octupole deformationsKeywords
