Abstract
In glucose-peptone broth Torulopsis glabrata has a generation time of approximately 45 minutes. Growth in a 24 hr. period was markedly inhibited in mouse histiocytes maintained in tissue culture. The inhibition was not due solely to the fungistatic effect of the serum in the tissue culture medium, although this factor did affect the growth of T. glabrata in glucose-peptone broth. The inability of the fungus to proliferate in the internal milieu of cultured mouse histiocytes suggests that it is not a facultative intracellular parasite. Keywords
