Adaptation française du Social Self-Esteem Inventory.

Abstract
Lawson, Marshall, and McGrath''s Social Self-Esteem Inventory was translated into French and administered to 194 randomly selected human subjects. Factor analysis of the scale revealed a single general factor that accounted for 34.9% of the total variance. Value of the alpha coefficient was 0.93, showing a fairly high internal-consistency reliability. Test-retest reliability over 5 wk indicated that the scale was highly stable, r = 0.95; P < 0.001. Normative data are provided along with a description of the scale in French. Comparisons between French and English data suggest that the English and the French versions of the scale are bilingual parallel forms.
