Abstract

N-Acetylbenzimidazole, N-acetyl-N''-methylbenzimidazolium acetate and N-acetyl-N''-methyltetrahydrobenzimidazolium acetate were synthesized, and their hydrolysis rates were studied. [These compounds model the imidazole group of histidine which takes part in enzyme catalysis.].
