Abstract

The fundamental mode of nonlinear optical fibres at ‘high’ power has fields e(x, y) which behave approximately like those of the linear or ‘low’ power fibre, but with the usual waveguide parameter V replaced by a simple power dependent V_N to account for the nonlinearities.
