Abstract
A compilation of the records of all registered glaucoma patients in Gothenburg during 1976 was analyzed for prevalence of glaucoma, age and sex distribution, unilaterality or bilaterality and age of onset. The glaucoma population consisted of 2776 individuals making an overall prevalence of 0.63%. There was no sex difference when comparison was made within each age group. A marked rise in prevalence was found in older age groups. Some problems in analysing and comparing mass data are discussed. A sample of this glaucoma population will be selected for further detailed investigation. Keywords
