Neutron Spectrum of238PuO2

Abstract

The neutron spectrum of ²³⁸PuO₂ was measured with a ⁶Li fast-neutron spectrometer. The neutrons derive mainly from the (α,n) reaction with ¹⁸O. The spectrum shows a peak at 2.3 Me V and a maximum neutron energy of ≍ 4.8 Me V.
