Sex Pheromones of Noctuid Moths. X. The Morphology and Histology of the Female Sex Pheromone Gland of Trichoplusia ni (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)12

Abstract
The gland that produces the female sex pheromone of Trichoplusia ni (Hübner) is an eversible sac of glandular epithelium situated dorsally in the intersegmental membrane between the eighth and ninth abdominal segments. Histological studies indicate that the pheronione is continuously secreted by females 1–7 days old. Dissection and chemical assay confirmed that the organ described produces the pheromone.
