Abstract
A set of 33 descriptions of Vorticella spp. were selected to represent the range of outline forms observed within the genus. These forms were assigned to 1 of 5 groups, quantified and then analyzed by a number of methods including standardization, multivariate analysis, angular measurement and Fourier transformation. All methods were able to resolve the shapes to some degree. The variation in shape seemed to be greater within each of the nominal groups than between the groups. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
