MALFUNCTION DETECTION OF THE DISTRIBUTOR IN A GAS-FLUIDIZED BED

Abstract
The malfunction of a perforated-plate distributor caused by blockage in a 0·3 m gas-fluidized bed was investigated in terms of pressure fluctuations. A pneumatic probe was used to detect the radial pressure distribution in the bed. The variation of pressure fluctuations in the bed was found to be in relationship to the perforated plate design and the static bed height while the plate was partially blocked. The bed pressure drop ratio was shown to be a clear indicator of plate blockage.
