Abstract
We have measured, using a resonating cavity technique, the low frequency sound velocity in xenon along various isochores in the single phase portion of the critical region. The frequencies employed were of the order of 8 kHz. Using our velocity results and available equation of state data, we calculated values of adiabatic compressibility and specific heat at constant volume. The latter results are shown to be consistent with those obtained by other workers. Keywords
