Abstract
A method is proposed for reducing the intrinsic intensity noise of spectrum-sliced wideband Gaussian radiation based on the amplitude-squeezing effect of semiconductor optical amplifiers in a gain-saturated state. The effect was confirmed by an experimental demonstration which showed that the stabilised sliced light had a Poisson-like probability-density distribution while the simple slice had a nearly-geometric distribution. Keywords
