Abstract

With the CLEO-II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have measured branching fractions for tau lepton decay into one-prong final states with multiple

π^{0}

’s

B_{h n π}^{0}

, normalized to the branching fraction for tau decay into one charged particle and a single

π^{0}

. We find

B_{h 2 π}^{0}

B_{h π}^{0}

=0.345±0.006±0.016,

B_{h 3 π}^{0}

B_{h π}^{0}

=0.041 ±0.003±0.005, and

B_{h 4 π}^{0}

B_{h π}^{0}

=0.006±0.002±0.002.
