Abstract
The location of the cemento-enamel junction on a tooth does not change. Normally the location of the zone of disintegrating epithelial attachment. cuticle (zdeac) is always on the anatomical crown and the outer border of the periodontal fibers on the cementum comes right up to the cemento-enamel junction. As the periodontal fibers are destroyed in the course of periodontoclasia, the epithelial attachment crosses over the cemento-enamel junction to take the place on the cementum formerly occupied by the fibers. The zone of disintegrating epithelial attachment cuticle at the outer border of the epithelial attachment moves progressively apex-ward at about the same rate as the outer border of the periodontal fibers moves. Keywords
