ENTEROTOXIN, HAEMOLYSIN AND CYTOTOXIC PROTEIN IN AEROMONAS HYDROPHILA FROM HUMAN INFECTIONS

Abstract
Three different toxins were detected in culture supernatants from 11 strains of A. hydrophila. The hemolysin and the cytotoxic factor(s) [assayed on human diploid fibroblasts] interfered in the 3 test systems [rabbit intestinal loop, rabbit skin test and mouse adrenal cell test] for enterotoxin, but they could be neutralized by heating at 56.degree. C or by specific [rabbit] antihemolysin.
