Abstract
A Monte Carlo study of the Abelian Higgs model demonstrates a first-order phase transition between the Higgs phase and the Coulomb phase for a wide range of gauge and Higgs coupling constants. For small gauge coupling the discontinuity becomes very small, making it difficult to determine the order of the transition. Keywords
