Abstract
The brains of 20 patients with cerebral arteriosclerosis have been studied with regard to the exact mechanism of occlusion of the arteries in encephalomalacia. The histologic material has convinced the author that the concept of "cerebral thrombosis" in its present wide application is erroneous; there is arterial occlusion but the mechanisms of its production, which are discussed, are not the usually accepted ones. Keywords
