Abstract
Nocardia mutants, capable of utilizing papaverine as a sole source of C and N, were induced with N-methl-N''-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine and mitomycin C. The isolated mutants were divided in 4 groups, depending on the accumulated papaverine metabolites. The degrading pathway of 2 metabolites was investigated. Studies of the cell wall and membrane fraction of the mutants and wild-type show 2 inducible, particle-bound proteins with the MW of 29,000 and 60,000 Da [daltons] involved in papaverine degradation. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
