Abstract
The elastic constants of single crystals of cubic AuZn have been determined over the temperature range 85–300 °K and of cubic YZn over the temperature range 4.2–300 °K. The anisotropy ratio of AuZn increases with decreasing temperature and exceeds a value of 9 prior to a martensitic phase transformation which occurs near 60 °K for alloys of this stoichiometry. In contrast, the anisotropy ratio of YZn remains constant at 1.95 independent of temperature. Extrapolation of the elastic constants of YZn to 0 °K allows evaluation of a Debye temperature of Θ0=306.8 °K.This publication has 13 references indexed in Scilit:
