Abstract
THE FREQUENCY with which vascular injuries resulting from the war and from highway and industrial accidents are being encountered in everyday surgical practice indicates that all available knowledge of the poorly understood specialty of vascular surgery should be more widespread. It is this thought which leads us to believe that the experimental findings, about to be reported, are timely. In this study we propose to invite attention again to some of the experimental observations that we have reported over a period of years, as well as to new data on the subject of transplantation of blood vessels. A part of the data to be presented at this time has been published previously in connection with studies made in this laboratory on the autogenous and homogenous transplantation of the kidneys.
