Abstract
The effect of temperature on suberization of potato tuber tissue was measured by diffusive resistance and quantitative chemical procedures. The optimum temperature for formation of aliphatic suberin monomers and development of resistance to water vapor conduction was 26.4.degree. C whereas alkane synthesis was optimal at 18.6.degree. C. Low temperatures (< 16.6.degree. C) reduced suberin monomer production more than alkane synthesis.
