Abstract
A group of persons with essentially symmetrical hand dermatitis as well as a control group with normal hands immersed their hands for a total of one hour daily for two weeks in phosphate buffer solutions equivalent in concentration to that of "built" household detergents, and adjusted to pH 5.0 and pH 10.0. It was found that in most instances both hands improved or remained unchanged. One could conclude that repeated immersion in phosphate solutions of pH 10.0, equivalent in concentration to alkaline or "built" household detergents, does not affect persons with hand dermatoses adversely. Keywords
