Abstract
A method is described for bleeding germfree mice in Reyniers-type animal units. This employs immobilization of animals by anaesthesia to prevent accidental contamination of germfree units. Using sodium pentobarbital in a concentration of approx. .05 mgm per gram of body weight, it was possible to collect repeated blood samples up to 0.5 ml each, consistently. The orbital sinus route of bleeding under these above conditions was accompanied by no mortality.
