Abstract
In the framework of a self-interacting scalar field with a cubic interaction, we have computed all radiative corrections up to the sixth order. In Paper I, we describe the functional method which gives the renormalized corrections, while Paper II will be devoted to the computation of these radiative corrections. These calculations are performed as a test for the method which we intend to use in the realistic case of quantum electrodynamics. Keywords
