Abstract
The relation between malocclusion, symptoms of mandibular dysfunction and cuspal interferences was studied in 389 men aged 21–54 years. Angle class III malocclusion, mandibular overjet, maxillary crowding and anterior open bite were positively correlated to symptoms of mandibular dysfunction and cuspal interferences. Crossbite was found to be related to mandibular dysfunction only when general factors were kept constant. There was no difference in influence between uni- and bilateral crossbite. The results also suggest a multifactorial aetiology of mandibular pain and dysfunction. Keywords
