Abstract
Bird, E. C. F. & Klemsdal, T. 1986. Shore displacement and the origin of the lagoon at Brusand, southwestern Norway. Norsk geogr. Tidsskr. Vol. 40, 27–35. Oslo. ISSN 0029–1951. The geomorphology of the coastal zone of Brusand, Jæren, southwestern Norway is described, and the lagoon known as lake Vaulen is given special attention. The development of the landforms is related to littoral and eolian processes operating through successive regression and transgression phases of the Late-Weichselian and Holocene sea. During these phases sand accumulated in the shore zone to form a barrier enclosing the lagoon. The article ends with an account of other infilled lagoons along the coast of Norway and the evolution of Norwegian lagoons compared with the general ideas on the origin of lagoons. Keywords
