Abstract
After a review of the pertinent literature, a procedure to predict search performance is presented, which is based on visual lobe area measurements. The procedure also distinguishes between random and systematic searching strategies. A task network model has been worked out that permits one to dynamically simulate visual search with various field sizes, visual lobe areas, and eye-movement characteristics. The validity of the proposed predicting method is demonstrated by comparison with experimental data as well as by simulation runs using the prediction model. Keywords
