Abstract
Herbal insecticides VIII: Synergistic activity of (–)‐carvone and pyrethrine I in the essential oil of Chrysanthemum balsamita L.By means of suitable tests it could be demonstrated, that the addition of (–)‐carvone, the main constituent of the essential oil ofChrysanthemum balsamita, to pyrethrines enhanced their insecticidal activity against the rose grain aphid,Metopolophium dirhodum.A blend of 1: 850, which is the ratio of pyrethrine I: carvone in the essential oil, increased the pyrethrine toxicity 7–11 times. Comparing the dose‐effect values of the single components at the EC50‐level revealed a superadditive and thus synergistic effect. No significant dependence of the reduction of insect infestation on the ratio of pyrethrines: carvone in the range from 1: 50 to 1:104was observed.Zusammenfassung: Mittels geeigneter Testverfahren konnte gezeigt werden, daß die Zugabe von (–)‐Carvon, dem Hauptbestandteil des etherischen Öls aus dem Balsamkraut,Chrysanthemum balsamita, zu Pyrethrinen deren Insektizidwirksamkeit gegenüber der Bleichen Getreideblattlaus,Metopolophium dirhodum, erhöht. Mischungen im Verhältnis 1: 850, wie Pyrethrin I und Carvon im Pflanzenöl vorliegen, hatten eine 7‐ bis 11fach höhere Toxizität als Pyrethrine allein. Vergleiche der Dosis‐Effekt‐Werte auf dem EC50‐Niveau ergaben, daß es sich dabei um einen superadditiven, also synergistischen Effekt handelt. Im Bereich von 1: 50 bis 1:104wurde keine signifikante Abhängigkeit der Befallsminderung vom Mischungsverhältnis Pyrethrin: Carvon gefunden.
