Abstract
A set of requirements is proposed for fiber-optic strain sensors, and specific criteria are suggested for such sensors in the context of "smart" structures. The suitability of several potential sensor types is evaluated against these criteria, and the characteristics of two particular suitable sensors are presented. Keywords
