Inhibition of the Protein Synthesis in Rabbit Reticulocyte by Nivalenol, a Toxic Principle Isolated from Fusarium nivale-Growing Rice*

Abstract
In order to find out a bioassay method of the toxic metabolites of Fusarium nivale, an investigation was made with following results; 1. Protein synthetic reaction of the rabbit reticulocyte was applicable to the fractionation of the toxic principle from Fusarium nivalegrowing rice. 2. The isolated toxin, Nivalenol, inhibited the protein synthesis at the ribosomal level of the cell.
