Leadership for change

Abstract
CHANGE AND leadership are two of the buzz words in the nursing 90s. They remain, however, mysteries in many areas of clinical practice. Change is inflicted with little regard for the realities of individual areas of practice and individual practitioners. There appears to be little attention paid to planning or evaluation of change. Take as an example the introduction of the nursing process (Wright 1989). Is it any wonder that change is often viewed with suspicion and resentment by nurses working in the field?
